What's new in DataDetection

+16 NewiOS · macOS · tvOS · watchOS

DataDetection finds structured data in text and returns typed matches for links, email addresses, phone numbers, postal addresses, and calendar events. Apps use it to recognize this data instead of writing their own parsers.

The 27 SDK adds 16 APIs and deprecates or removes none. The new surface centers on DataDetector, with DataDetector.MatchType and DataDetector.Options to configure detection and DataDetector.Match for results. Match.SemanticDetails carries typed payloads including Link, EmailAddress, PhoneNumber, PostalAddress, and CalendarEvent. Match.HighlightStyle describes how a match renders.
